Nestled in the lush embrace of Gatineau (Quebec, Canada), Anik Deslauriers draws inspiration from the rhythmic dance of rivers, the whispering secrets of forests, and the playful caress of the wind.

Anik's childhood was a canvas painted with the hues of nature, and from this rich tapestry she found solace in art, sketching and coloring in a silent retreat to maintain a sense of calm amidst the tumultuous orchestra of family life. In this cocoon of creativity, Anik discovered the power of self-expression.

Navigating the confluence of beauty and energy, Anik Deslauriers' mixed media paintings unfold as contemplative reflections on the dual nature of the world—embracing not only its tangible physicality but also its intangible spirituality. In the face of nature's magnificence, she embraces the idea that our smallness is a source of wonder and beauty, inviting viewers to reflect on the profound contrast between our modest existence and the grandeur of the natural world that surrounds us.

A JOURNEY OF DISCOVERY

Anik's academic journey began at St-Félicien College in Lac St-Jean, where she studied environmental science. Intrigued by nature, she delved into geology, although this path was left unfinished. Guided by a growing passion for art, Anik turned to landscape architecture, seeking to fulfill the artistic void she felt. She ultimately completed her studies in Cartooning at the Université du Québec en Outaouais.

After university, Anik became a cartoonist for a journal, creating the comic strip "Simonde et Mia" for two years. Seeking a more stable professional path, she transitioned to graphic design, drawn also by the promise of better compensation. In 2015, she breathed life into Hirondella, a fine art and illustration boutique on Etsy, specializing prints.

In parallel, Anik continues to work for Art Plus Gallery, bringing her artistic expertise as a deputy art director.

For Anik, art is an open door to wonder at our existence in the vast cosmos. Through works imbued with eloquent nuances and textures, Anik explores with fascination the relationships of grandeur and humility that bind us to the universe. By creating this space for reflection, Anik aims to awaken gratitude for our ephemeral yet meaningful existence.

As a certified fitness coach, Pound Pro, and Buti Yoga teacher, she weaves together the transformative power of fitness, movement, and music. With electrifying, motivating, and energizing classes, she offers a refreshing alternative to the ordinary routine.
